Dear Parents/Guardians:
As we begin to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, let us consider those who need our thoughts and prayers. Today, there are children in residence at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with their parents hoping for a cure. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food, so they can focus on helping their child live, regardless of the duration or the cost of care (stjude.org).
As a school community, we are participating in the annual Math-a-Thon to help support St. Jude. It is not mandatory to complete the math work in order to donate. If you can, please send in a donation to help fund this wonderful hospital and their children. No amount is too small. Place cash or a check in an envelope with your child’s name and grade to bring into school. If you are writing a check, it should be made out to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. What a wonderful way to serve others as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Thank you!
Boys BB (Grades 3-4) are postponed until the week of February 5th. As soon as I know what day, I will repost that information.

IT’S YEARBOOK CRUNCHTIME!!
The 20223-2024 yearbook due date is April 29th.
I am asking all 8th grade parents and students to send me (via email) any photos you may have which can be included in the yearbook. This can include sports, activities, general candid shots, etc. You may also send photos of earlier years at SHS. Please keep in mind that group pictures are preferred. Thank you!
Also, please make sure you have sent in your quote and baby picture via Google Classroom to Mrs. Gomez.
I would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to all of my students and parents. As always, you have gone above and beyond. Your kindness and generosity are greatly appreciated, and I am truly blessed.
I would also like to thank my class parents: Mrs. Naviello, Mrs. Freire LaFuente, Mrs. Montague, and Mrs. Taveras for the donuts and hot chocolate bar for our party… yummy! Also, a thank you goes out to Mrs. Gaetano who arranged the string bag gift for 5A and 5B. The kids loved them! Because of all of you, we had a great time… again, many thanks!!.
I would like to wish you all a blessed Christmas and a peaceful and joyous New Year. Enjoy the break with family and friends, stay safe and be well.
Love, Ms. Klein
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Grades 5A and 5B are scheduled to visit the Santa Shoppe on Thursday, 12/14 and Friday, 12/15 (1:00-1:45 on both days). Mrs. Miles will be taking both classes to the shop as they have class together and that is why we have scheduled two days. If your child does not get to go on Thursday because we ran out of time, they will go on Friday. However, please note that any student who visits the shop on Thursday will not have an additional opportunity on Friday. Mrs. Miles will keep a list of the students who go in first on Thursday and who needs to go on Friday. Please have any money for the shop in an envelope with the student’s name on the front. Thank you.
There are some students who were absent on the day of the quiz, and some who did not do well. I spoke to those students today and let them know that they will take the quiz tomorrow, Thur., 11/30. All grades must be in and finalized by Friday, so this must be completed ASAP. The material is on Google Classroom. Please check in with your son/daughter to find out if they need to study for this quiz tonight.
I would like to wish our entire SHS community a peaceful, restful, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Enjoy your time with family and friends!
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Tomorrow is a half day with dismissal at 12:00. Students will be having bagels, fruit, and water for snack… provided by me and Mrs. Miles. Students may bring in card games, board games, drawing supplies, etc. No portable gaming allowed… example: Nintendo Switch.
Tomorrow is also a free tag day. Please make sure clothing is appropriate for school.
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
I still have not received a resume, or at the very least, a list of extracurricular activities, honors, etc. for some students who have requested recommendations from me. It is difficult to write a thorough and thoughtful recommendation without this information. If you have requested a recommendation from me and still have not provided your list of achievements, I will not be able to complete this to the satisfaction of your selected high schools. Thank you.
Ms. Klein

Dear Parents/Guardians:
Mrs. Miles and I are seeing a few issues with the Chromebooks in 5th grade. Students are leaving them in classrooms, on the floor in front of their lockers, and on top of their lockers. We discussed with both classes the idea of privilege and responsibility regarding the use of Chromebooks. No student should leave their Chromebook on the floor, or on top of their locker. If it is not being used, the Chromebook should be in their locker. Unfortunately, I had to take charge of five Chromebooks so far this week that have been left around the school. Please speak to your child about the privilege of having this device and the responsibility involved in taking care of it. Going forward, the consequence will be working in class without the device for the rest of the week. Thank you.
The following is noted in the Parent/Student Handbook:
