5th Grade will have a test on Oct 30th.

All they need to study are the circled numbers we went over in their Workbook.

Please speak to your child about lab safety and guidelines. I have gone over this before, during and after every lab and I am still having some issues with students following the rules.

These safety rules and guidelines are for the safety of the children and myself while conducting a lab so it is very important they understand the importance.

Please note: Fooling around before, during and after is unacceptable and will result in a conduct referral, recess or morning detention as well as being removed from conducting the lab (which will result in receiving a zero for that lab, they will have to do a research paper on what we are studying to receive partial credit)

The labs being conducted might have dyes or mild chemicals so “playing around” puts not only themselves in danger but also their lab group and myself.

Here are some of the rules and guidelines that are being broken and exhibited at this time:

* Drinking water during a lab
* playing with objects ( erasers, little gadgets they have in their cases, eyewear, etc)
* pushing books into each other
* taking materials out of the classroom without permission
* playing with the lab gloves

At Sacred Heart School the children have the opportunity to conduct labs, observations and experiments so they can get that “hands-on” experience and correlate what they are learning in the lesson.
If this becomes a continued issue, I will have no choice but to put a pause on doing all this with the students.

I give over a week for students to complete test reviews or standardized test.
These reviews count as a test grade , so not submitting on time or at all will result in a “0”
They ALL have time in class to work with their group or alone, so there is absolutely no reason or excuse for this work not being submitted .
The excuses I am currently getting on GC is actually insulting!
For a child to say they didn’t have time because they play a sport is unacceptable. Honestly , I think coaches should be informed of the lack of effort and disrespect.
With that being said, I WILL NOT open the submission since they had since last week, 2 days off this week etc to complete their work .

Since the students are off on Oct 16th, I am rescheduling Art club next week only for Thursday , Oct 17th.

The student artist are working on their paintings. Next week we will be working with clay 🙂

Parents and students:

All assignments posted on Google Classroom has a deadline date. This is so that the students will stay on task for due dates
All of my assignments, labs, projects , the students are given plenty of time to complete, in class, with their lab groups and at home.
With that being said, it is really unacceptable for the constant request, excuses for late turn ins, etc. All late submissions will suffer a grade deduction for each day it is late. If they can not submit due to the assignment being closed , they MUST contact me through email, acknowledge that they are submitting late and why they are late , at which, I will reopen the submission for them.
