Covid-19 Guidelines

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Currently the school follows the CDC‘s recommendations for Covid-19 exposure/illness. The school follows the CDC’s 10-day recommendation:

If your child is symptomatic, regardless of when they test positive, they must stay home for 5 days from the date when symptoms began. Day 0 is the day that symptoms started. Symptoms must be improving and your child must be fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications in order to return to school. Your child may not return until day 6. Once they return, they must wear a mask until day 10.

If your child is asymptomatic, we begin day zero on the day they tested positive.

This is the protocol we follow regardless if they have had the Covid vaccine or not. The vaccine does not prevent the virus from spreading, it only reduces the likelihood of severe illness. If your child has Covid, they may not return to school until the 5 days are completed and they must wear a mask for an additional 5 days to complete the 10-day recommendation. The only exception to removing their masks early, once they do return, is if they have two consecutive negative tests 48 hours apart beginning on day 6 and ending on day 8. Otherwise they must wear a mask for the full days 6-10 while in school. If you prefer for them not to wear a mask at all, you can opt to keep them home all 10 days, but they are not excused absences.

I know this can be confusing. I am always here to help in case you need to know exact dates. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me via phone or email. My email is LPazmino@sacredheartlynd.org.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Best and sincerely,
